Shelby’s Blend “SBP”

2017/18 Shelby's Blend

So what is SLO town, nine sisters and a first?  And what is the story and relevance behind this label?

Shelby's Blend is named after our daughter and the original name we gave our very first harvest - both firsts for us in 2012.

It so happens that her initials (SBP) are the same as our county airport code for San Luis Obispo.  Anyone that has visited or flown over SLO town (as locals call it) can't help but notice an amazing chain of ancient volcanic morros beginning in the very heart of San Luis Obispo and spanning all the way to Morro Bay.  (Illustrated from left to right:  San Luis Mountain, Bishop Peak, Chumash Peak, No Name Hill, Cerro Romualdo, Hollister Peak, Cerro Cabrillo, Black Hill & Morro Rock).

A view of San Luis Mountain served as the backdrop during Angela's month long hospital bed rest prior to Shelby's arrive and subsequent 2 month NICU stay - sealing that significant connection for us.

Nick-named the "Nine Sisters", these mountains give us a 'sense of place' and daily reminder that we still live close with the land.

This well balanced blend is the softest of the oils we produced.
